The Powerstation is a General Admission (GA) venue. This means audience is mostly standing, although very limited seating can be found both upstairs and downstairs.
COMPACTSTATION is a new multi-purpose venue, hidden within the dark walls of Auckland’s iconic POWERSTATION. Designed to offer a more intimate setting for performances and events, COMPACTSTATION can be configured to accommodate up to 200 attendees.
The Powerstation is wheelchair accessible, although we do not have allocated seating specifically for wheelchair users. Our security staff will find a place for you within the venue with a good view - please arrive early and speak to security upon arrival, so that we can secure the best vantage point for you.
Unless stated otherwise, all Powerstation shows are R18. Those who are underage will not be able to attend shows, even if a legal parent or guardian is present. This is a licensed venue and valid ID will be required. Valid forms of ID are: a current NZ passport, a current NZ driver licence, HANZ 18+ card, or Kiwi Access Card.
These are the only forms of photo ID / verification of age that are acceptable as per the Liquor Licensing Law.
Under the liquor licensing law, it is an offence for the License Holder/Licensee to admit or have onsite persons they deem to be intoxicated.
We request all attendees’ cooperation regarding the appropriate consumption of alcohol prior and during the event; if you are assessed as being intoxicated you will not gain entry to the venue.
ALL AGES SHOWS
When a show is sold as both All Ages & Licensed R18, the venue will have two very separate & well-monitored areas. The unlicensed All Ages area of the venue will be totally alcohol-free.
No alcohol can be taken into the unlicensed area.
Patrons who are under 18 will be restricted to the unlicensed All Ages area. Patrons over 18 can enter the unlicensed / alcohol-free area. Suitably qualified venue personnel will be in place to administer the people entering & exiting these licensed & unlicensed areas.
Ticket holders under 15 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are being picked up post-show, please ensure your pickup person is on site at the completion of the event. There will be security monitoring the outside of the venue post-show for around 20 minutes only. It is important that all pickups take place prior to the completion of the security monitoring.
Tickets are available through either AAA Ticketing or Ticketmaster – please check all information for each individual show, accessed on the Coming Shows page.
If you purchase through Ticketmaster online and have selected venue pick-up as your delivery method, your tickets can be picked up on the night of the event only, from the Powerstation main doors. This service will be available from the time doors open only.
Buying Tickets for Events at Powerstation
Recent months have seen a large number of tickets that have been purchased with stolen credit cards in both Australia and New Zealand resold through third-party sellers online. Reports have also surfaced through news media about punters buying fraudulent or misrepresented tickets through these third-party sellers. A couple of examples can be found below.
AAA Ticketing and Ticketmaster are the official ticketing agents for the Powerstation.
We cannot guarantee that tickets bought from any other source will be valid and grant you access to an event.
When buying tickets for a show at the Powerstation, we recommend first checking ticket availability on AAA Ticketing / Ticketmaster and purchasing through these official ticketing agents.
If you do decide to buy tickets through a third-party seller such as Viagogo, Queen of Tickets, online auction sites etc, we recommend you take the following steps to ensure you know what you are buying:
- Contact the seller to ensure the ticket you are purchasing is valid and as described.
- Contact the original (official) ticketing agent to request the ticket transferred to your name and email address / account.
If you have any concerns about a ticket you have already purchased, please contact the original ticketing agent (i.e. Ticketmaster / AAA Ticketing).
For general enquiries, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Door sales are available for all shows open to the general public, subject to availability.
Coat check is available at the venue, at a nominal cost.
LOCATION, PARKING & TRANSPORT
The Powerstation is located at 33 Mount Eden Road, Eden Terrace, Auckland.
There is no designated venue parking available, although limited street parking can be found on surrounding streets. There is a small, uncovered, public carpark directly opposite the venue (Upper Symonds Street Pay & Display Carpark), located on the corner of Mount Eden Rd and Symonds Street.
If you wish to take public transport, options available include:
A number of bus routes run very close to the venue, stopping either outside the venue on both Mount Eden Road, or around the corner on New North Road. Most routes originate in the CBD. The venue is located within the 1 Stage fare zone - find out more about bus fares and routes.
The Mount Eden Train Station is close by, servicing the Western Line. Fares are determined by the distance of your depature station. It takes approximately 7 minutes to walk to the venue from Mount Eden Train Station. Plan your train journey here.
There are a multitude of local taxi companies available to transport you to the venue. After each show, taxis form a rank along Mount Eden Road so that you may leave the building and have a taxi immediately available to you.
If you are travelling to Auckland for a show at the Powerstation, there are a good variety of accommodation choices close by.
As the Powerstation is so close to the CBD, we suggest you find somewhere to stay in the central city, with either the train station (Britomart) or the bus system readily available. As above, both the train and some bus lines will transport you very close to the venue. If you prefer to take a taxi, a reasonable taxi fare from within the CBD to cost between $20-$30, depending on exact location.
