Concert review: Kaiser Chiefs, Powerstation - NZ Herald
Kaiser Chiefs – The Powerstation May 10, 2012 - 13th Floor
THE KAISER CHIEFS at Powerstation, Thursday 10 May 2012 - cheeseontoast
With special guests Young Lyre
Everyone’s favourite Leeds lads the Kaiser Chiefs are venturing down to New Zealand this May for their first ever show at The Powerstation! Promising to play all their great songs including hits ‘Ruby’, ‘I Predict A Riot’, ‘Everything Is Average Nowadays’ and ‘Never Miss A Beat’, Kaiser Chiefs in concert has been a long time coming!
The group is also soon to release their brand new single, ‘On The Run’ which bears that trademark Kaiser Chiefs sound and has a chorus filled with enough hooks to have you singing along for days.
The stand-alone single comes fresh from the band that have not slowed down since the 2011 release of The Future Is Medieval (out now through Liberator) which was revolutionary in allowing fans to create their own album playlist online before purchasing.
In further exciting news the band have recently been confirmed for the highly sought after Coachella Festival in the USA. 2012 certainly promises to be another busy year for the mighty Kaiser Chiefs.
Critics went mad for the Kaiser Chief’s 2011 Australian shows:
“The Kaiser Chiefs took to the Enmore stage with his customery enthuisiam and formidable energy, belting out a range of new and old songs, leaving Sydney punters screaming for more. Yes, there was actual screaming.” - Sun Herald, 14 August, 2011
“If rock was a religion then tonight was the equivilant of a multi-denominational celebratory service. There was so much spirit in the room. They left us with ears singing and throats sore, still worth the hype.” – Drum Media, August 9, 2011
Joining the band for this one off show is Young Lyre. These Auckland lads make the sound a dance move would make if it had lungs and a smoke machine. Experiencing Young Lyre live compares to being a part of an explorative people-prompted flash dance. Their sound has been likened to Two Door Cinema Club’s breakout album Tourist History, and they sure know how to play their instruments! Young Lyre’s live show is always a good time and that’s what we’ll all be having when the open for UK’s Kaiser Chiefs!
Don’t miss this exclusive performance from the Kaiser Chiefs and special guests Young Lyre in May 2012!
