LIL JON Turn Down For What

LIL JON Turn Down For What

with Team Dynamite.

Things are getting Crunktastic with the arrival of the King Of Crunk, Lil Jon, whose show is only a week away … and Much More Music are all about ”making ‘it’ happen” , so for this forthcoming Lil Jon DJ engagement at the Powerstation on Thursday 16th October, they now offer the ‘2 for 1… What?’ deal.

It’s simple – you buy a ticket for the over achieving, Grammy award-winning, hit-making, ass-shaking DJ Lil Jon, and you get one free.

Since its December 2013 release, Lil Jon and DJ Snake’s Turn Down For What 2013 has stormed the worldwide charts and provided Lil John with his ninth US Top 10 hit. Film-making duo The Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert) video for Turn Down For What … has been described as ‘incredibly absurd’ and ‘perfect insanity’ . In NZ the song has taken radio by storm and is now certified Gold on the NZ charts.

While Turn Down For What has taken Lil Jon to an even bigger audience he was, (and still is!), known for his role in creating, pioneering and popularizing the southern movement and lifestyle known as Crunk .... Lil Jon is its reigning poster child.

Delivering a string of US hits (in the 90’s) with the East Side Boyz Lil John became a national force in 2001 thanks to the tracks “Bia Bia” and “Put Yo Hood Up.” Crunk became so popular that artists not directly connected to him (such as Mary J. Blige) began using the word Crunk, in their own music. Jon helped usher the word ‘Crunk’ not only a national scale, but worldwide. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary added the word into their book in 2007.

Widely known for his platinum-selling productions, Lil Jon has crafted ground-breaking hits for a diverse array of artists such as Usher, Ciara, The Ying Yang Twins, E-40, Ice Cube and more. He’s also worked with will.i.am, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Bret Michaels, Travis Barker, Jennifer Lopez, Machine Gun Kelly and many more. As an artist, he has sold millions of records as the frontman of Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz, whose smash hits “Get Low” and “What U Goin’ Do” have been among some of the biggest crossover hip-hop records. His songs have been featured in huge blockbuster movies including The Hangover, The Proposal and the Step Up franchise.

His consistent hit-making has earned him legions of fans internationally, and across the US, BUT of course in his native region, the South. This is no more evident as Lil Jon won BMI’s Songwriter of the Year award as well as scored eight Billboard Awards (for the two hit Usher tracks “Yeah!” and “Lovers and Friends”), a Grammy, a Radio Music Award, a BET award, two MTV Video Music Awards, and an American Music Award.

Crunkalicious.

Joining the show will be Auckland hip-hop collective Team Dynamite . Their laid-back, jazz influenced style has invited comparisons to A Tribe Called Quest, Outkast and De La Soul, but with a distinctly NZ Flavour.
