Down & Suicide Silence

  • Thursday 6 March 2014

Rumors and anticipation spreading across New Zealand have now been confirmed: DOWN will headline Auckland’s Powerstation on March 6 with support from metal giants SUICIDE SILENCE & local rising stars DEPTHS.

Regardless of trends, popular opinions, and changing tides, DOWN are uncompromising, unparalleled, and undeniable. That’s why they resonate so profoundly in the underground and beyond. After three full-length studio albums, they don’t merely have a cult following—they are a cult.

With a collective pedigree spanning Pantera, Corrosion of Conformity, Crowbar, and Eyehategod, there’s untainted mystique and magic when Philip H. Anselmo, Pepper Keenan, Kirk Windstein, Jimmy Bower, and Pat Bruders enter Nodferatu’s Lair at Anselmo’s New Orleans home to record. On the group’s forthcoming DOWN IV Part 1 – The Purple EP the mythos surrounding DOWN expands immensely. Staggering riffs, thunderous drums, and Anselmo’s inimitable delivery crush and captivate over the course of the collection’s six songs. It’s dark. It’s dangerous. It’s decisive. It’s Down at their best.

SUICIDE SILENCE has dominated the metal world since arriving on the scene in 2005. Almost immediately, the Riverside natives caught fire and became a five-piece force of destruction, bludgeoning fans across the world and an impressive list of achievements including a Revolver Golden God Award and being a part of world-renowned festivals such as Vans Warped Tour, Mayhem and Download Festival in the UK. Nothing could slow them down… Or so they thought; after a motorcycle accident that tragically ended front man Mitch Lucker’s life in 2012 the future looked grim for Suicide Silence as fans and friends alike mourned their devastating loss.

2013 seemed to shed a better light on the band as the addition of All Shall Perish front man Eddie Hermida Suicide Silence are back on the road and ready to prove their immortality to audiences the world over with an extensive touring schedule; including New Zealand for one massive show at Auckland’s powerstation.

Joined by local legends DEPTHS, who will be playing material off their new yet to be released full length album.

Please note: All purchased tickets for Suicide Silence is still valid for this show.
