Formed in Wales in 1996, Stereophonics’ sound is as distinctive as Kelly Jones’ wonderfully rustic vocals and his poetic melancholy and elusively introspective lyrics.

The band’s first studio album release, Word Gets Around, did just that, the band’s enduring popularity solidified by extensive touring. Subsequent albums Performance and Cocktails, Just Enough Education To Perform, You Gotta Go There To Come Back, Language. Sex. Violence. Other? and Pull The Pin, expanded the band’s fan base, the last five hitting the top spot in the UK charts.

With the release of a greatest hits collection, Decade In The Sun, featuring key tracks such as ‘Have A Nice Day’, ‘Dakota’, ‘Mr Writer’, ‘Superman’, ‘Just Looking’, ‘Pick a Part That’s New’, ‘The Bartender and the Thief’, and ‘Maybe Tomorrow’, the band’s worldwide album sales have now surpassed 9 million.

Stereophonics first performed here in 1997 when after a particularly good night out they wrote the song ‘The Bartender and the Thief’. They last hit our shores in May 2008, selling out their two Auckland shows.
